frequently asked questions
Where can I find the serial number on the Kidgoo?
The sticker with the serial number is on the box, the warranty card and on the lower right frame rod in the trunk.
Flexbar drawbar used upside down. How can I take it out again?
If the Flexbar drawbar is inserted upside down into the drawbar bracket and is also pushed so far into the bracket that the button for unlocking can no longer be reached, then the locking pin may get caught inside the drawbar bracket and it will be pulled out the drawbar prevents.
In this case, you can loosen the locking pin again with the help of a slotted screwdriver. To do this, first remove the plastic cap at the end of the drawbar. A slotted screwdriver will also help. The locking pin is connected to a spring plate inside the drawbar, if you place the screwdriver between this spring plate and the outer wall of the drawbar, you can push the locking pin inwards and thereby unlock the drawbar. Hold the locking pin in this position and pull the drawbar out of the drawbar bracket.
Squeaking noises at the drawbar joint
The clutch is made of a rubber-like material (TPU); at certain temperatures it can cause squeaking noises when it rubs against the stainless steel clutch. In this case it helps to apply some oil, e.g. WD40 or even normal cooking oil, to the coupling
Coupling Guide
The right connection for your bikeThe universal coupling included in the scope of delivery fits almost all bicycles. This is always attached to the left side of the bike in the direction of travel.
The accessories available from us also enable the universal coupling to be attached to bicycles with special rear wheel types or frame geometries.
What type of rear wheel do you have?
1) Quick release
2) Thru axle
3) Solid axis
Quick release
The universal coupling is attached between the frame and the quick release nut or clamping lever. If the quick release axle is too short to generate sufficient clamping force, there are three options:
1) Quick release
2) Thru axle
3) Solid axis
Quick release
The universal coupling is attached between the frame and the quick release nut or clamping lever. If the quick release axle is too short to generate sufficient clamping force, there are three options:
1) Quick release with polygon adapter PA5x0.8 (thread type: M5 x 0.8)
2) Quick release axle M5 175mm
3) Quick release with coupling anti-twist lock
The coupling anti-rotation device (KVS) prevents the coupling from twisting and keeps the quick release in a fixed position, which offers additional stability.
The coupling anti-rotation device is available in 4 different sizes: 4mm, 8mm, 10mm and 15mm.
These sizes create a gap between the coupling and the bicycle frame (dropout) if the geometry of the frame requires this.
Important: If it happens that the KVS does not fit into the dropout right away, you can sand down the corresponding points a little.
Thru axle
Mid-engine e-bikes; Mountain bikes with higher loads
The quick-release axle must be long enough to secure the 5 mm thick contact surface of the universal coupling with sufficient clamping force. If this is not the case, there are suitable accessories. The following values are decisive for the selection of the correct adapter:
a) Axle length
b) Thread type
c) Diameter of the thru axle
1) ST-214: thru-axle adapter M12x1 (length: 160-172; thread type: M12x1; diameter: 12mm; sleeves: 6mm conical and 6mm)
2)ST-332: thru-axle adapter M12x1.5 (length: 170; thread type: M12 x 1.5; diameter: 12 mm)
3)ST-552: thru-axle adapter M12x1.75 (length: 167-192; thread type: M12x1.75; diameter: 12mm; sleeves: 7mm and 8mm)
Determine the correct thread pitch
It's best to ask your bike manufacturer. The thread pitch can also be determined very easily yourself, simply put a ruler and measure the distance of 10 thread pitches.

Rear-wheel drive e-bikes; Bicycle with gear hub
The universal coupling is attached between the frame and the nut. If the thread length is too short to generate sufficient clamping force, there are suitable polygon adapters that are screwed directly onto the solid axis:
1) Polygon adapter 10.5x1 (thread type: M10.5 x 1)
2) Polygon adapter 10x1 (thread type: M10 x 1)
3) Polygon adapter 38x26 (thread type: 3/8 x 26

Special solutions
If the assembly of the universal coupling is not possible due to the geometry of the bicycle, the following special solutions are available:
a) Connection of the universal coupling URS for bike stands with 18 mm hole spacing (11 mm to 25 mm) - KUURS-18
b) Weber - special coupling solutions
c) Robert Axle Project - thru-axle specialist
1) Coupling for bike racks
Alternatively, the URS coupling for bike racks (KUURS-18) can be used. This can be attached directly to a bicycle stand with 18 mm hole spacing using longer screws.

How do I use the 3-in-1 convertible top correctly?
On warm days, we recommend only closing the insect cover and opening both the side and rear ventilation windows.
In winter, the splash protection should also be closed and only the side ventilation window should be opened.
Always make sure to dress the children according to the season.
Is the cover waterproof?
Basically, our pushchairs are not completely waterproof, but rather water-repellent, ie rain initially rolls off the fabric and only pulls through the fabric after prolonged contact. For production reasons, however, we cannot completely rule out openings in the convertible top.
For longer journeys in the rain or in heavy rain, we recommend the use of the optionally available rain cover, as this offers more comprehensive rain protection.
Stiftung Warentest
Why does Stiftung-Warentest rate the Qeridoo Kidgoo1 and Kidgoo2 as "poor"?
We cannot understand the evaluation of Stiftung Warentest. All of our bicycle trailers are safe and suitable for transporting babies, toddlers and children up to 6 years of age. There are no clear legal requirements for the procurement of materials for bicycle trailers. Stiftung Warentest has established its own test criteria that are based on toy guidelines. Child bike trailers are in accordance with this
Annex | Point 5 excluded from the Toys Directive 2009/48 / EC.
In addition, the quality and safety of our products are our top priority. In order to also meet possible future requirements, we immediately decided as a precaution not to use the material for the darkened side windows. We have switched to a supplier that offers darkened TPU films that are free from flame retardants. The absence of harmful substances has already been confirmed to us by TÜV Rheinland.
However, the flame retardant TDCP was only used in the side window, where constant contact with the children is not to be expected. The fabric cover, the bench and the belt system are free of flame retardants, which has also been confirmed by TÜV Rheinland.
How is the evaluation of Stiftung Warentest to be assessed?
Although the Stiftung Warentest is a non-profit German consumer organization with a government mandate, in recent years there have been increasing doubts about the methods and reliability of the institute. Our own evaluation criteria, which go beyond the legal basis, unfortunately stir up fears among consumers, some of which are completely unjustified.
We consider this scare tactic based on arbitrary evaluations to be wrong. On the one hand, Stiftung Warentest does not evaluate the product as a whole, but only takes individual parameters. Non-safety-relevant aspects are placed in the foreground by the assessment, although the focus should be on safety during transport. On the other hand, the evaluation is not based on legal requirements, but on scientifically unsound evaluation standards.
Qeridoo advertises a high level of transport security. Why was this not confirmed by Stiftung Warentest?
We cannot understand the evaluation or the evaluation criteria of Stiftung Warentest. Qeridoo has pointed out several times that our products are also equipped for emergencies such as the bike trailer tipping over or rolling over. Our bicycle trailers have rear impact protection and are equipped with side head protectors that create an important safety distance in extreme situations. Furthermore, the safety-relevant headroom is maintained. This is an immediate danger that is neglected in the current test by Stiftung Warentest. The safety of the little passengers is our top priority.
How will you deal with the test result? Are you going to fight it?
When looking at other companies that have had a similar experience in the past, it unfortunately becomes apparent that a public dispute with Stiftung Warentest does not bring legal success. Even if the facts speak for us and we win the argument in terms of content.
Do the products pose a health risk?
We would like to emphasize: All of our products have been tested several times for high stability, solid workmanship, good handling and harmless and sustainable substances and materials. They meet the legal requirements and can be used without hesitation. When purchasing our materials, we always ensure that the suppliers comply with the legal requirements, such as those stipulated by the EU chemicals regulation REACH, the relevant standards EN71, EN15918, or the GS specification. There are no references to the flame retardant TDCP in any of these catalogs of requirements. We agree with the assessment of the legislature and the specialist committees and see no risk when using the tested bicycle trailers from Qeridoo. A restriction for TDCP is only intended for children's toys, of which our products according to Appendix | Item 5 of the Toys Directive 2009/48 / EC are expressly excluded.
TDCP is also present in carpets, for example. These products are also safe to use, although longer-term contact with children is to be expected.
The test by Stiftung Warentest gives the impression that legal provisions have been violated, although this is not the case. We consider scaremongering based on our own evaluation criteria, for which there is no legal basis, to be wrong.
Nevertheless, we immediately decided not to use the material for the darkened side windows anymore. We have switched to a supplier who also offers darkened TPU films that are free from flame retardants. The absence of harmful substances has already been confirmed to us by TÜV Rheinland.
Can I return an already purchased Kidgoo1 or Kidgoo2? Will I get my money back then?
The Kidgoo1 and Kidgoo2 tested by Stiftung Warentest do not pose any verifiable health risks. So there is no reason for this. For further questions, customers are welcome to contact us.
What is TDCP?
TDCP is used as a flame retardant and is often found in furniture and carpeting, for example. In principle, TDCP should not be rated negatively, on the contrary - it prevents the materials from catching fire easily. TDCP is currently suspected of having a carcinogenic effect in humans. However, there is still no scientific evidence of toxicity for this. A precise assessment of this substance should take place in 2020.
How can TDCP be included?
Since TDCP is only sparingly soluble in water, a piece of the window fabric would have to be swallowed in order to actually absorb the pollutant. However, since it is a particularly resistant material, it is almost impossible for a child to tear off part of it. Even for an adult, this would be a major challenge.
Are you making changes to the materials?
Although our products meet all statutory requirements, we would of course like to preventively counteract all, even the most improbable and theoretical risks. We have therefore already decided to go beyond the norms and also to ensure that no flame retardants are used in our materials. We use materials from another manufacturer in ongoing production. We have already had TÜV Rheinland confirm that it is free from harmful substances - also with regard to TDCP.
Why was material with TDCP used in the first place?
For the production of the Kidgoo1 and Kidgoo2 models, we took on a new supplier for TPU films at the beginning of the year. This supplier met all legal requirements. We were not aware of the use of TDCP at the time. Since there is no legal basis that includes a ban on TDCP for bicycle trailers, this was not checked either. Stiftung Warentest has established its own test criteria that are based on toy guidelines. Child bike trailers are excluded from the Toy Directive 2009/48 / EC in accordance with Annex | Point 5.
Is TDCP also contained in other Qeridoo products?
We basically have several suppliers for the TPU films for the side windows. After internal tests, the new supplier that was added in early 2019 turned out to be the only supplier using TDCP. Thereupon he was excluded from our circle of suppliers. Only TPU films without TDCP have been used since mid-May. Up to this point in time mainly Kidgoo models were produced. However, we cannot rule out that Sportrex models with TPU films were also produced by this supplier.
How is the final grade composed?
Our child bike trailers Kidgoo1 and Kidgoo2 scored DEADLY (4.6) in the test by Stiftung Warentest. This is due to the grade in the pollutant category. Stiftung Warentest writes the following about the devaluations: "If child-friendly design or harmful substances were inadequate, the quality rating couldn't be better."
In principle, pollutants are only included in the evaluation with 5%, since the Stiftung Warentest, however, assigns a deficiency in the area of pollutants due to the only suspected flame retardant TDCP, according to the Stiftung Warentest's own evaluation method, a better final rating cannot be achieved.
The good results in the area of safety, handling and driving are therefore not included in the final evaluation! It is incomprehensible to us that after this evaluation procedure a bad result in the area of security does not lead to such a strong devaluation. In the area of safety, we were even able to achieve the second best result in the test. Unfortunately, Stiftung Warentest only rates this elementary topic with 10%.
